In 1847 the Muench family decided to build a barn. With the simple handtools they had, probably some friends help, and time, they built a huge barn of hand-hewn oak and sycamore beams. That barn stood for 167 years and came down in 2014. Counting the rings in the beams, my best estimate is that the tree that they were made from sprouted in the 1760's.
We reclaimed and preserved those beams here at The Wood Den this year and are creating furniture that will last another 167 years.
Our Barnwood comes from Actual Barns that we took down and reclaimed, not just old sawmill lumber. Ou selection varies from time to time as we buy and sell.
